Oil Paint Practice

The first Painting after the first life drawing class of the year. A familiar model on canvas with Oils. Im pretty happy with how it came out. After a 4 week break from painting. A slow start it all came together nicely at the end of the two hours.

  1. You did this in two hours? Wow… That’s amazing. It would take me two hours to get my act together with mixing and making decisions about brush strokes, etc. I have sat for artists before (fully clothed) and it takes about four hours with breaks for them to get me.

    • Yes , the Life drawing lessons I go to are 2 hours long with a 5 minuet break in the middle. Its a blessing and a curse really. Half the time I love the short time as it forces you to work quickly which can help the paintings take on a more expressive feel. Other times its hugely frustrating specially if the painting isn’t going to plan. as there isn’t time to solve whatever is going wrong with it. Thanks for the feedback.

      • Thank you for your insight. It’s great to hear what artists are thinking as they work. I hope to be more flexible while using oils one day.
